Rosacea.

Rosacea is a chronic skin disorder that appears to be more common in women then in men. It usually appears in middle age or later. Most of people who has Rosacea even don't know it. In severe cases the nose may grow swollen and bumpy from excess tissue (Rhinophyma condition). The eyes are also affected: feeling irritated and appearing watery or bloodshot.

Symptoms:

Skin thickening, pimples and bumps, and persistent redness, mostly on the forehead, nose, chin and cheekbones. Although, patients complain of easily blushing and flushing of the face. Eye irritation, burning or stinging sensations may occur. Dry face appearance, plaques and swelling are potential signs of Rosacea.

Subtypes:

17 medical experts worldwide identified four 4 subtypes:
1. Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, described by patients having flushing and persistent redness, and may also include visible blood vessels.
2. Papulopustular rosacea, categorized by persistent redness with transient bumps and pimples.
3. Phymatous rosacea, characterized by skin thickening, often resulting in an enlargement of the nose from excess tissue.
4.Ocular rosacea, patients suffer with dry eye, tearing and burning, swollen eyelids, recurrent styes and potential vision loss from corneal damage.
Many patients experience characteristics of more than one subtype at one time. While rosacea may or may not progress from one subtype to another, each individual symptom may progress from mild to moderate to severe. Early diagnosis and treatment by your dermatologist are highly recommended.

Recommendations:

Many experts recommend avoiding hot spicy foods, hot beverages, extreme cold temperatures, sun exposure, alcohol, and any irritating skin treatments or products (including facial peels and alpha hydroxy acid products). Also make sure you keep your skin very clean-do not wash it with just water. Use a gentle but thorough cleanser morning and evening to remove bacteria.
